25 Best iPhone Whales
We've talked about in class the latest up-and-coming meme is the "iPhone Whale", this site not only displays what's said to be the original but some inventive (and adorable) iterations. The whale is a quintessential meme in that it started out fairly simple and has evolved in creativity and setting, though it may only have a little while left to live. My personal favorite is the Free Willy poster.
I love that the "iPhone Whale" meme is still going on and hasn't yet died away. I know we predicted in class that it would be forgotten about after a few weeks, but I have seen may different versions of this meme still floating around on the Internet. For example, Tumblr still has some new versions of the "iPhone Whale" popping up. I have even seen this meme on Facebook in that my friends have made up their own versions and uploaded them onto the social network site. I think that the "iPhone Whale" is a good example of a meme in that it is present on a variety of different websites and is being manipulated and spread out by users online. I like that this meme is known not only to iPhone users but anyone and everyone that has seen it on the web.

I still see these around! I visited the webstie that you posted and I think my favorite is Marilyn MonWhale :) I think that this meme will continue for a long time because of how popular it is. My friends still send me random different whales from time to time. This is another one of those memes that you have to really have an iphone to participate in. Yes, you can see them all over the internet, but it's not as fun if you don't have one!
